Under the tenure of acting Director Mick Mulvaney, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has significantly scaled back its rule-making and supervisory abilities. Mulvaney has taken steps to rollback regulations, dismissed enforcement actions, threatened to remove public access to data and more. As advocates, we can help restore the integrity of the Bureau by calling on Congress to put consumers ahead of financial institutions.
The Consumers First Act (H.R. 6972), a bill introduced by Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA-43), would restore the strength and authority of the Bureau by undoing the harmful actions taken by Interim Director Mulvaney to undermine the agency’s work and mission. Please take a moment to email your Representative and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 6972.
